TRUST ME
"In 1964, a poll conducted by the University of Michigan showed that
64% of voters believed that government is 'run for the benefit of all', and
only 29% thought that it is 'pretty much run by a few big interests looking
out for themselves'. In 1988, according the the Wall Street
Journal, '24 years and innumerable Washington scandals later, the same
survey group found the proportion reversed: 63% believed that America is
run by a government of the few and for the few, while 31% thought it is
run for the greater good'."
"Sudden Sanctimony: U.S. Congress Seeks to Shun Any Hint It is In Debt
to Big Debt to Big Givers," Wall Street Journal, 11 August 1989;
quoted in Political Parties and Democracy, by Arthur Lipow, Pluto
Press, 1996, page 53.
And now look how bad things are. If the course of America is to change,
we must change it.
