Sudden HUD budget cuts threaten Section 8 tenants

20 July 2004 - FLASH: NO SECTION 8 TENANTS WILL BE EVICTED.
We saved our homes In response to tenant protests against abrupt Section 8 rent support cuts, The Alameda City Council announced that Housing Administration Director Mike Pucci's effort in Washington, D.C., and cooperative landlords who reduced some rents, had made possible the funding of ALL Section 8 vouchers through September. Most certainly, all tenants supported by Section 8 funding will be safe from eviction through the end of the year. Members of the Campaign for Renters' Rights held a rally outside City Hall just before the Tuesday Council Meeting.

Details will be added soon as part of on-going coverage by The Alameda Report on land development issues in Alameda; Who Owns, Who Controls, Who Benefits.
