Ann Fagan Ginger, a nationally-known lawyer, teacher, writer, and political activist, spoke on Saturday, September 25th to the Alameda Public Affairs Forum about human rights violations since 9/11.

Ann Ginger's talk at the Alameda Public Affairs Forum will be based on her forthcoming book, which contains the broadest coverage of human rights violations ever attempted. "Challenging U.S. Human Rights Violations Since 9/11" will be published by Prometheus Books in March 2005.

MCLI blurb on the book, Challenging U.S. Human Rights Violations Since 9/11 Ann Ginger's report will be submitted as a Report to the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Departments of State, Labor, Defense, Commerce, and EPA, and to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Committee and UN Committees Against Torture and To Eliminate Racial Discrimination in Geneva. After carefully collecting and sorting 183 reports of violations by all U.S. Government agencies since 9/11, Meiklejohn Institute enunciated 30 categories of rights and duties being violated, listed the relevant laws, and suggests paths for action to stop the violations.

Ann Ginger is the author of 24 books, has taught at San Francisco State, and lectures widely on human rights and peace law under the U.S. Constitution and the UN Charter and treaties. Ginger argued and won in the U.S. Supreme Court against the Ohio UnAmerican Activities Committee in 1959. She is founder and executive director of the Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute (MCLI) http://mcli.org an organization that seeks to promote social change by increasing the recognition and use of existing human rights and peace law at the local, state, national, and international levels.
