On the recording you will hear Julie Rufo of Alameda Peace Network introduce the evening, and one of the founders of the Alameda Public Affairs Forum, Dr. Arthur Lipow.
In his words, "This is a dream we've had for some time. We felt for a long time that Alameda needed a place for the people who didn't have a voice, or for people who wanted to hear about the issues, and this is a realization of that. ... We very much committed to peace. We're committed to democracy, civil liberties. We're committed to having an intelligent and informed citizenry. That's really the main idea."
"We're going to present programs that people hopefully will learn from; about the world, as tonight from Marshall. They're going to learn what's going on in this country. And they're going to learn about the local area. In fact, we're going to do a meeting on Alameda because we think there's lots of not very good things going on in Alameda and we're worried about that... I actually gave it the name "Theft of an Island? Ed. note: The next Alameda Public Affairs Forum will be held at the Home of Truth on Grand Avenue, July 10th. Allan Solomonow of the American Friends Service Committee will give a talk, "Eye Witness in Israel".
"But that's just the beginning."
Marshall Windmiller began by explaining his flip chart, a list of his speaking points, as his Powerpoint for poor people. His talk covered the points on his flip chart lists:

#2America's empire and forces impelling it |
#3Essential ingredients for successful creation of a U.S. empire |
#4Reasons Bush says that the U.S. can't leave Iraq |
