From Penny@cozad.com Thu Nov 8 05:16:06 2001 Date: Sun, 04 Nov 2001 09:31:04 -0800 I woke up at about 1pm all worked up about the 208 housing units proposed by the Housing Element for the lots at and adjacent to the Dutra Property off Clement (16.9 acres). Then I whipped off an email to the Housing Element email address: To: Alameda Housing Subject: Housing Element I have been to two of the "public" meetings for the Housing Element Draft presentation by Stephen Belcher. It's a little difficult to comprehend without the document, which was not available for most of the public until just before the second public presentation. 1] How can a reasonable housing element draft be made until the Regional Housing Needs Determination numbers are corrected? Your document states clearly that the RHND numbers are skewed for a larger need for housing than exists on the island. The island does not have the 14000 jobs it once had. 2] If ABAG is the one who allocates the number of housing units based on the RHND numbers, why are they making Alameda come up with a bogus housing element policy that they know can't be accurate? 3] How does an area zoned (this is incorrect - it's zoned Manufacturing and proposed to be Mixed Use by the new plan...oops!) for open space/park land quietly go before the Planning Department as a housing development?
