The number of housing units would be reduced by a minimum of 882 units. 2] The draft identifies parcels for use as housing that have previously been projected for use as open space/park in the 1991 General Plan. 3] The public has not been given adequate notification or time to review the draft documents. 4] When ultimately approved, the New General Plan will require your vote for amendment in order to apply revisions required by the future Northern Waterfront Specific Plan. The Planning Department has yet to answer a question that you may want to ask: what is the latest date for approval of this Housing Element? The Planning Department staff has already stated February 2002 as a possible date for "final action by the City Council". The State mandated December 2001 deadline is already not considered to be a serious deadline.
