How has the Planning Department reacted?
The
Planning Department must press ahead with the next Master Plan. A significant
part of that plan is called the Housing Element. The latest version
is available in the City library and in the City Planning and building
Department office at City Hall. A complete copy of the Housing Element
can be purchased for $32 from the Planning Department. It is also on
the web (minus important appendices) at

A public hearing on the Housing Element will be held before the Planning Board. The hearing is tentatively scheduled for Monday, September 23, 200 at 7 PM in the City Council chambers, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda. We must make it clear to the board that the community wants an active park on the Estuary to be contained in the plan.
