REVIEW OF MICHAEL MOORE'S MOVIE, FARENHEIT 911
by Maggie Rufo
I went into the theater last night, to see
Fahrenheit 911, filled with anticipation and glee at the thought of having
a few laughs at the President's expense. Sure, there were a few laughs,
but I spent most of the over two hours fighting back, and then giving in
to, tears. Tears of horror, shame, embarrassment and sorrow at the actions
of our country, the vile company our leaders keep, the deaths of innocent
civilians, and the maiming and killing of our soldiers. I am sickened and
devastated. You can call it propaganda if you want, you can call it
skillful manipulation, but what you can't call it is lies. Michael Moore
did not create footage of the Bushes and the Saudi royal family, he did not
put words in the mouths of U.S. soldiers, an actress did not play a woman
who's many family members have served in the military and who has now lost
her son in Iraq. All these things are true, they are happening, and I am
not laughing.
